What You Do Everyday that Damages Your Carpet

We all have those friends who insist that all guests remove their shoes upon entering their home. This is often associated with various Asian cultures but it’s a good practice for anyone with carpet—and honestly anyone else that cares about their floors.

Many people think that using the outdoor mat to wipe shoes before entering the home is enough. Some people take their shoes off when they first come in while others tend to leave their shoes on until time for bed. Wiping shoes on a mat outside poses a few problems.

1. The mat is outside

That is where dirt is. Mats right in the doorway have similar problems (high traffic, close proximity to the outdoors). Also, dirt will collect and eventually not be used for removing anything off of your work boots and running shoes.

2. Mats aren’t perfect

There isn’t really a way for floor mats to completely remove the dirt from the bottom of your shoes; especially if it’s just a quick wipe or it’s been raining out. If you wipe your shoes on your mat and then rinse them under running water you would find more dirt than you ever anticipated.

3. Wiping shoes only removed dirt from the bottom of the shoes

If you decide to continue to assume mats clean shoes you’re ignoring the rest of the foot. Depending on the environments traveling, shoes can be filthy all over. That dirt can fall off and into carpets where foot traffic will basically grind it into the fibers.

If carpets are dingy and everyone in the hold walks around barefoot (with clean feet or socks) there are other ways walking and feet can damage the carpet. Some slippers or house shoes can rub material into the carpet (colored soles, for example, can begin to wear and the evidence is in the carpets). As with shoes, slippers can grind existing dirt into your floors from walking out to get the paper in your slippers or just from the dirt around the home.

Furniture Can Cause Damage to Carpets as Well

Places, where furniture is regularly moved, can cause physical damage from long times of rest, rapid movement, or basic use (like dining chairs). Carpet fibers when new are round and have a certain level of shine or glossiness. Anything can cause friction and slowly alter that texture quality, making carpets look duller and darker (and therefore much dirtier).

Carpet cleaning can help prevent this but the damage can be hard to reverse, if not impossible depending on severity. Some treatments can be applied to carpets to reduce the risk of this damage, but being aware of movements can do just as much. Avoid moving furniture haphazardly; do not just push your sofa across the floor and try to avoid small movements regularly. The less something moves around and is abrasive to a carpet, the better the flooring will look.

Some of you may be thinking “how can I live in my house comfortably and keep my carpets looking nice?” It’s tricky, but you will have to accept some levels of dirt, grime, and wear.

Regular professional cleaning can help restore the luster and cleanliness of your home but simple measures like shoe removal at the door (preferably placed on hard floors or mats) and careful furniture moving can help keep your home looking as clean as possible.

How Can We Help You?

Call Accents In Cleaning today to schedule a visit to renew your carpets and push you to be a cleaner, smarter person. The next time you visit a friend or family member who requests everyone remove their shoes remembers that they may just be trying to keep their carpet from becoming damages and it’s probably nothing against your shoes specifically.

6 Stubborn Carpet Stains and How to Get Rid of Them

Your carpet doesn’t have to be a reflection of all it’s been through. Gum, lipstick, shoe polish, etc., it’s unavoidable to have this in your home. And those instances when accidents occur, they could stain your carpet.

If you have ever tried cleaning one of such stains, you will know that it is not easy at all. You might have even given up on some, saying that it’s impossible to get a perfect job done.

Here we are to tell you: It is possible to clear your carpet to perfection. And we will show you how. One step at a time.

1. Gum

Sometimes kids put gum on furniture. Sometimes adults accidentally lose control of their mouth and gum falls out. Sometimes gum can fall out of a trash can and get pressed into furniture or flooring. Next time gum shows up somewhere it doesn’t belong, try these methods.

  1. Ensure the gum is dried and hardened by using a can of compressed air or ice or an ice pack (be sure to keep moisture from ice away from the gum). Take a dull scraper to scrape up and lift off the gum. This can work on carpets as well, just be extra careful to avoid damage to the carpet fibers. Vacuum the area and wash with warm soapy water.
  2. Apply extra strength duct tape to the gum and quickly lift the tape, repeat until the gum is removed.
  3. Using a microfiber cloth, apply a product like Goo-Gone. Use circular motions and pressure to loosen the gum.

2. Lipstick

Lipstick from a napkin, a glass tipping onto the carpet, or simply falling asleep on your sofa before removing your makeup can leave embarrassing red marks. Follow these tips to restore your carpet or furniture to its pre-kissed glory.

  1. If the lipstick has not dried, apply toothpaste to the area to help remove the stain.
  2. If the lipstick has dried, use a plastic knife or a scraper to remove as much as possible.
  3. Soak a cloth in ammonia and gently blot at the stain. Remove ammonia from the surface with a clean cloth which has been soaked in water.
  4. Spray hairspray onto the stain, let sit for roughly 5 minutes and wipe down the area with a dry, clean cloth.

Unfortunately, lipstick is a very stubborn thing to remove, but Accents in Cleaning can help you remove any and all stains.

3. Shoe Polish

Shoe polish can make work boots and dress shoes look amazing. Whether you have a housemate who is in the military or someone who just likes polished shoes, somewhere in your house is bound to end up with a little-spilled shoe polish.

  1. Scrape away as much as possible (without damaging the carpet or upholstery) with a scraper or knife.
  2. Apply dry-cleaning fluid in a blotting fashion to the stain. Followed by a mixture of ammonia and dish soap applied with a clean paper towel (keeping the clean side on the stain at all times to reduce spreading). Rinse with cool water and blot with a clean, dry towel until dry.
  3. Use acetone nail polish remover. That stuff will remove just about anything!
  4. Mix a non-bleach laundry detergent with cold water and apply directly to the carpet and scrum.
  5. Combine water and ammonia, and scrub the carpet with a clean rag. Rinse with warm water and blot or vacuum dry.

If none of these methods work or you don’t want to clean the stains yourself, call us at Accents in Cleaning and we’ll get your floors and furniture looking good as new! Our trained professionals will leave you 100% satisfied, guaranteed! Check in next week for more stain removal tips.

4. Nail Polish

  • As soon as the spill occurs, grab a cloth or paper towel and blot the stain, do not rub. Rubbing is likely to just push the nail polish into the fibers of the carpet or upholstery. Work from the outside in to prevent spreading the stain. Remove as much as you can without cleaning products before continuing.
  • Be aware of how specific cleaning products will affect your carpet. Some cleaners can cause discoloration or texture change. Test products on areas unseen before testing it on the nail polish stain.
  • Try non-acetone nail polish remover. Avoid acetone-based removers since the chemical can damage the carpet or upholstery. With dark carpets and fibers, try rubbing alcohol or hairspray. Apply to a rag and blot. Carpet cleaners and Windex are safe options as well if other methods do not work.
  • If there is a strong smell of nail polish, remover, or cleaner, using a mix of dishwashing detergent and warm water can prove effective. Rinse with clean water and dab dry.
  • If none of these work, contact us at Accents In Cleaning.

5. Ice Cream

I scream, you scream, we all scream when ice cream spills in our home.

  • The faster the spill can be cleaned, the better. Melting is the enemy. Remove the frozen portions without pressing the ice cream into the fibers. Use a clean towel and roll it in a reverse motion, moving forward into the spill to pull the substance out of the carpet.
  • Combine dish soap and water and spray/apply to the spill, dab at it with a clean towel. Repeat as needed. Rinse with water.

6. Paint

  • Remove as much paint as possible using a white absorbent cloth, as quickly as possible. Blot the area. If possible, use a wet/dry vacuum as this should extract a lot of the paint without rubbing it into the carpet.
  • Nail polish remover can remove nearly anything. Avoid acetone-based removers for colored carpets.
  • Rinse well and use a towel or wet/dry vac.
  • If stains persist, repeat the above methods or call a professional cleaning company.

With any spill, time is key. The sooner something can be removed, the less likely it is to stain and ruin furniture or carpets. Keeping a wet/dry vacuum can be helpful, but so is knowledge of a good carpet cleaning company.

We are more than happy to give you these tips so you can save your money for your full home or room cleaning instead of renting carpet cleaning machines from the grocery store at insane prices.

Nail polish remover, hair spray, dish detergent, and wet-dry vas are amazingly useful to keep around and we highly recommend it.

For all of your deep cleaning needs, contact us to keep your home surfaces looking amazing, we guarantee your satisfaction.

AIC On Carpet Cleaning, Tile and Grout, Upholstery and Pet Stains

When you call Accents In Cleaning (AIC) to your home, you should expect magnificent cleaning services. This is only achievable because we know what we are doing every step of the way.

In this blog post, we’ll expose you to some of our techniques. Some of which you can replicate at home while some, uh, you just can’t. But not to worry, you’ll be better educated than you were before reading this post.

Carpet Cleaning

Before beginning, the Accents in Cleaning employee will walk through the home with the client to discuss areas in need of attention. The first cleaning step is a deep vacuum with our high-quality machines. These vacuums will pick up debris most commercial machines will not.

This is not to say you should not vacuum before our visit since regular vacuuming is good for the life of the carpet and your personal health. Next, stains and spots are targeted as needed with the correct products and methods.

In the rare case that the spot is not removed or improved, our cleaners will inform the client. We then use a pre-spray before bringing in our truck mounted cleaning machines using a one wet, two dry processes for a high quality clean and low drying time.

We offer a speed drying system, and while it completes our professionals will clean up their gear and discuss with you what was done, payment, and give you the option to schedule your next cleaning.

Upholstery

Our technicians begin cleaning by a pre-vacuum at which point we keep an eye out for any damage present to the furniture before our arrival. The furniture is pre-sprayed and a coarse hair brush is used against the upholstery to loosen up any grime to ease the cleaning process.

Our truck mounted system ensures high heat and quality clean to remove deeply embedded soils. Upon completion of the cleaning, the brush is used again to restore the original texture of thick fabrics and speed the drying. Much like with our carpet cleaning, we offer a speed-dry system.

Tile and Grout

Before beginning, the area is inspected to know where would need the most attention and which products will best clean the area while maintaining the integrity of the tile and grout (since we offer cleaning for man-made and natural flooring).

The floor is prepped with our tile cleaning solution. Grout lines are manually scrubbed to ensure the dirt and grime is removed. Using our special made tile tool to clean the corners effectively we ensure a full clean without damaging the tile or furnishing.

Our high-impact spinner deeply cleans every pore and grout line to ensure the best clean possible. Before finishing, we ensure all moisture in the surrounding area is dried and we apply a high-quality clear sealant before finishing with our rotary machine to restore the shine and luster of your tile. As with our other services, the floors are dried with our speed-driers.

An example of a pet stain under UV light

Pet Stains

Pet stains are hard to see with the naked eye, but we use blacklights and various technologies to find and mark these spots and use our in-house urine treatment product to remove the stain and odor.

We ensure the even spread of the product and use a subsurface tool to completely remove the soil and product before using a deodorizing product and our standard truck-mounted cleaning system.

At Accents in Cleaning we understand the value of clean, well-kept floors and we hope you choose us for your annual, semi-annual, or random floor cleaning needs!

Why Every Carpet Owner Needs Professional Carpet Cleaning Service

Every carpet owner can relate to this:

Remember the amazing feeling when your carpet was new? It was like living in a brand new home. Time passed, feet and shoes and pets walked all over your carpet. With time, the carpet began to look like what it’s been through.

The carpet didn’t look amazing as it was in the beginning. Not so radiant, not so lively and vibrant. It looked old. It needed professional carpet cleaning service.

Sure regular vacuuming keeps your carpet clean, but the effect doesn’t come close to those you get when you have it washed by professionals – with all their carpet cleaning contraptions. Not totally convinced professionals should clean your carpets? Here are more reasons:

It Improves the Lifespan of Your Carpet

Yes, your carpet will eventually look old, the color patterns will fade, look tattered and ugly. It’s inevitable, but there’s no reason why that time in your carpets life can’t wait a bit longer. You see, with periodic cleaning and care from professionals like ourselves, your carpet will stand the test of time. We use only the best and recommended cleaning agents for your carpets.

It’s Healthy

When professionals do a thorough job of washing your carpets, disease-causing germs, dust, pollen, pollutants, and other contaminants are stripped off your carpet. Foul smelling odor and their sources buried deep in the fabrics of your carpets will take their exit. Leaving your carpet smelling fresh, and clean. You know what’s interesting? Clean carpets improve the quality of air in your home, making it easier on your lungs and your body system in general. Vacuuming your carpet doesn’t get rid of these pollutants, it just stirs them up into the air that you breathe.

Your Guest Are More Comfortable in Your Home

Have you ever been in a house where every surface is dirty and coated with dust? If you have, I bet you weren’t comfortable being in such a house and it was a huge relief to leave. Carpets with color patterns dulled out by dust are just as bad. Doubt this? Try inviting some friends over and watch their body language, they won’t relax or feel at home. But this is not an experiment you want to risk, they might politely refuse to come next time even if your home and carpet are in perfect condition. Let carpet cleaning professionals do the cleaning and you won’t have to worry about this, ever.

Saves You From the Hassle Involved

Cleaning carpet on your own requires time – like a lot of it -, energy and stress. Have you ever tried washing your rug carpet on your own? It’s a real daunting task and for the less determined, a near-impossible task. We’re not saying it’s impossible, not at all. It’s a difficult task, especially without the right types of equipment. And without the right equipment, you won’t have the desired results. Hiring professionals will free you an enormous amount of time and save you all the hassle involved with washing a carpet. Moreover, it’ll be time.

How Can I Find the Best Local Carpet Cleaning Company near me?

How Can I Find the Best Local Carpet Cleaning Company near me?

“How Can I Find the Best Local Carpet Cleaning Company near me?”

This is a question many prospective customers ask and for a good reason too. Your carpets require adequate care and attention if they are to remain clean, healthy, safe and last a long time. In order for them to happen, you will need the services of the local carpet cleaning company near you.

Finding the right carpet cleaning company is of utmost importance because the truth is, everyone wants to make money. But only few are willing to put in the work. With that said, we have compiled few but essential tips to help make the right decision with carpet cleaners.

Get the best Carpet Cleaning Service with no headache

  1. Consider a carpet cleaning company’s reputation before hiring them. Many carpet-cleaning companies exist, but unfortunately, all are created differently. Some have more experience and are simply better than others. You should seek out opinions from your family and friends and check for reviews online. You can then be better able to find the carpet cleaning service that fits your budget and needs.
  2. When you are considering hiring a carpet cleaning company, you must ask about the types of solvents and chemicals they will be using. Many companies still use harsh chemicals, but a quick search online will help you to find out which companies use green products.
  3. If you are looking into having your carpets cleaned, you should understand how the pricing structure works. That means they charge you a low fee initially but will keep offering you additional, more expensive products and services that other people have tried.
  4. A reputable carpet cleaner will give you a guarantee. If the business does not offer a warranty, look for another company. You should allow the company to back up their guarantee if things don’t go right the first time. Ask for a refund if you are still not happy with their service.
  5. Just because a carpet cleaner is using a brand-name product, that doesn’t mean they do a better job than anyone else. Check for genuine certifications, licensing and insurance any time you are considering hiring a carpet cleaning company.
  6. Always examine your carpet warranty before going forward with carpet cleaning services. You may have a carpet that has a stain treatment built in, and putting a different product on it may affect the warranty. You will eventually spend more and the chemicals may not coincide with one another.
  7. The company should move your furniture for free. Even the carpet cleaning company will include the move of your furnishings free of charge, you should handle the fragile items yourself. Even if a company promises nothing bad will happen, it is still not wise to trust someone else with your valuables.
  8. Some companies will move your furniture. That is good, but move things that are especially valuable yourself, to ensure nothing is damaged. It is best not to take any risks, even if your carpet cleaner is insured and seems reliable enough to take good care of your valuables.

Finally…

If you’re able to implement these tips, you are sure to nail yourself a great carpet cleaning company. If you are a resident of Concord, Walnut Creek, San Ramon, Danville, Blackhawk and it’s nearby cities, you don’t need to look too far. Accents in Cleaning is one of the best carpet cleaners in the area. Just give us a call and dirty carpets will be a thing of the past for you.

Staying Safe During Home Cleaning – How to Handle Harsh Chemicals

If your home has carpeting, you understand just how dirty they are able to get. If you are concerned with how your carpets look, you will want to get them cleaned. However, what do you need to take into account? The following article can tell you what you need to know.

General Carpet Cleaning

Learn about the reputation of any carpet cleaning company you are considering hiring. There are many companies that are more reputable than others. Ask friends and family members for references, and also check online review sites for information. In this way, you can find a good match in a carpet cleaning professional.

When you clean your carpet, don’t use an excess of heat. Heat can affect your carpet’s quality, particularly if there are many colors or you have a delicate material. This is especially true during stain removal.

In addition to cleaning carpets, many professional carpet cleaners offer other services. There are a good number of these companies that offer upholstery cleaning and much more. Ask them what other services they provide. You may find someone who is offering a deal on their cleaning services.

Harsh Chemicals

Having your furniture clean at all times means a switch of lifestyle and some tricks up your sleeves
Handling Harsh Chemicals while cleaning the home
  1. Some carpets cannot be cleaned with harsh chemicals or carpet cleaning machines. Always test a small patch of carpet with a cleaning product before using it all over. Silk or wool carpets can be damaged by harsh chemicals. Contact a carpet cleaning business if you don’t know how to get your carpet clean.
  2. The first thing you should do upon purchasing a new carpet is to wash it thoroughly. Oftentimes, companies add harsh chemicals to carpets so that they will look great while still shown to customers in stores. Get rid of these chemicals by having your carpets professionally cleaned.
  3. Remember that cleaning your carpet with chemical products exposes your entire family to substances that are potentially harmful. Always read any labels on a cleaning product before using it, or even consider using more environmentally conscious products such as baking soda or vinegar.
  4. If you’re considering having a professional company clean your carpets, be sure that said company has a real address. You should be able to go to an address if any issues arise. If their business address is a P.O. box, you should look elsewhere.
  5. Make sure you alert the company about any electrical sockets within the floors of your home. The cleaner will have to avoid these areas to prevent accidents. The company’s equipment or even their employees can be hurt, as well as your home.
  6. Before using a carpet cleaner, read the instructions. You need to get an idea of what kind of stains the product can remove and find out if you need to mix the product with water first. You need to understand these things ahead of time.
  7. If a stain is really hard to get out on your carpet, think about hiring a professional. Professionals have methods to remove things like blood, red wine, and even wax that home cleaning products cannot remove. This is done in a meticulous way to preserve the integrity of your carpet.
  8. The chamber of commerce is a great resource for finding reputable carpet cleaners in your area. They will be aware of the companies in your area. In addition, they can provide you with any possible customer complaints you can look through. Doing these things can help ensure you choose the best company.

If you have carpets, you know how dirty they get. After reading this article, you should have the confidence to hire the right professional for the job. The preceding paragraphs were full of ideas you should take into account. Implement the advice here to hire your ideal carpet cleaning company.

Thankfully, you now have a basic idea of this topic. Keep looking for more great information, and use it to your advantage.

  1. It is best to vacuum your carpet in sections. To help you get the job done efficiently vacuum a section at a time. Moving all of the furniture out of the room you are having professionally cleaned can be very helpful.
  2. Before cleaning, make sure that the carpet is vacuumed. The vacuum that is used should be a good quality one. You will only cause the dirt to go deeper in the carpet if you apply a cleaning product over it. When needed, allow the stain to dry prior to vacuuming.
  3. Carpet cleaning companies also usually offer other types of services. Most companies offer an upholstery cleaning service for the furniture in your home. There are quality deals out there for carpet cleaning services.
  4. You should ask your carpet cleaner to test the chemical products they use on a sample or on a small area of your carpet. Don’t skip this step as some solutions cause permanent staining. Doing this sort of test is quick, and can save lots of hassle and expense.
  5. Some carpets do not respond well to chemicals. You need a cleaning service that is going to use the right products. You don’t want any of your rugs being damaged. A professional can answer any carpet cleaning questions you may have.
  6. Even if your cleaning service says they will remove all the furniture for you, be sure and handle the delicate objects yourself. It’s better to be safe than sorry.
  7. A carpet cleaning company’s competency is not determined just by what brand shampoo or equipment they use. You need to find out whether or not the cleaner you hire has a certification and a good reputation. Ask them about certifications and contact your local better business bureau to find out if any complaints have been filed against this cleaner.
  8. Ask the carpet cleaning professionals if they have any tips for carpet care once they have finished their cleaning. They may let you know when to vacuum and what the best stain remover is. You can now keep your carpets great-looking for much longer.
  9. If someone wants to be a professional carpet cleaner, they need to have certification from the IICRC. This certification is globally recognized as the gold standard for carpet cleaners. This is imperative if your carpet is still under warranty. If they lack certification, your warranty may be voided.
  10. Take the time to vacuum each part of the house. You can remove more dirt the more you spend time in each area. This can spare your carpet needless stains and give it a longer life. The extra time you spend will give you good future results.
  11. Baking soda is an affordable way to mask bad odors and keep your carpet fresh. Most carpet deodorizers contain baking soda with fragrance. Economize by simply utilizing baking soda. If you want a fragrance, simply mix some essential oils to the baking soda prior to applying to your carpet.
  12. If you have a pet, you will probably be cleaning more often. It would be wise to get a carpet that is heavy duty and resists wear and tear. You should vacuum your carpet twice a week and always keep some carpet cleaning products at home.
  13. Make sure the carpet cleaning service has a place to park. It can be a big deal because of their equipment. Carpet cleaning equipment is quite heavy, so it’s important that the cleaners have easy access.
  14. Ask up front about the services that are offered by your carpet cleaning company. A lot of carpet cleaning businesses will low-ball you, then try to talk you into buying additional features that you might have assumed were included. You don’t want to go through this. Avoid this by confronting them as to what’s included in their price so that you aren’t surprised by a large bill.

As the start of this article discussed, you already know how dirty carpets can get if you have them inside of your home. Therefore, it is important to know how to choose a good carpet cleaning company. The above article should give you a good idea of what to expect. The Most Concise List of Carpet Cleaning Tips You Need

If you have attempted to clean your own carpets, you are aware of how hard it is when you aren’t used to the entire process. When it comes to carpets, there is an abundance of knowledge out there. Therefore, hiring a professional carpet cleaner is usually your best bet. The following article will give you some great tips for hiring the best company for the job.

Carpet cleaning before and after carpet

Carpet Cleaning Tips

Reputation is important in the carpet cleaning business. There are quite a few companies to choose from, and there are those that you can depend on more than others.

When vacuuming, make things easier for yourself by sectioning off the room. To help you get the job done efficiently vacuum a section at a time. For example, divide a square room into four equal areas and concentrate on one area prior to moving to the next.

Try to avoid excess heat when carpet cleaning. Your carpet can suffer from severe damage, even more so if it is colorful or fragile.

You should not choose a carpet cleaner who uses telemarketing to find clients or advertises set prices for a room. Rooms come in many different sizes. Usually, prices are based on the size of the room when they are professional.

Beware of carpet cleaning businesses who are soliciting business over the phone, or who charge by the room. Not all rooms are the same size.

Check customer reviews of local cleaning companies. Look for reviews and recommendations that indicate whether the company is able to meet your needs and provide the best services. Do some research to get the best results from a cleaning company.

Check customer reviews of local cleaning companies. There are companies out there who claim excellent customer service when in reality it is anything but excellent.

Even if furniture moving is offered free by the company, move any valuable yourself before they get there. It is best not to take any risks, even if your carpet cleaner is insured and seems reliable enough to take good care of your valuables.

Check your carpet warranties prior to arranging to have any professional carpet cleaning firm provide stain treatment. Certain carpets are made with a stain treatment and when you use another formula, the warranty could become void.

Just because carpet cleaners use some famous products doesn’t mean that they’re more reliable and experienced than other companies. Proper licensing and certifications, on the other hand, are more important. Just ask the company, then verify that on your own.

Just because a professional uses a well-known product doesn’t mean they are reputable. Make sure you research the certifications and credentials of any prospective cleaning firm.

Inquire about how you can take care of your carpeting after the professionals are finished working on it. They can give you guidance regarding how long the carpets need to dry, how often you should vacuum, and what you can do to lift future stains from the carpet. Follow your technician’s advice to help your carpets remain looking their best.

In the world of cleaning, a carpet cleaner on a professional level should be fully certified by the IICRC. This certification is globally recognized as the gold standard for carpet cleaners. This is important if your carpet is under warranty. If there isn’t a certification, the manufacturer can void your carpet’s warranty.

If you can’t get a stain out of your carpet, you may want to get a professional. Professionals use better techniques to get the stains out of your carpet. In fact, they can remove stains without inflicting any chemical damage to the carpet. Over time, this saves a great deal of money.

Pets can wreak havoc on your carpets. If you have carpet that is harder to clean, consider keeping your pets out or using rugs.

Shampoo your dirty carpet with a mixture of vinegar and warm water. Doing this is a cheap, effective method of getting carpets cleaned. Just use a 50-50 mix of vinegar and water applied with a sponge. Rinse completely with warm water, and finally, use a fan to dry the carpet.

Make sure that the company you hire has procedures they are following. You need to be sure that before any deep cleaning they are going to vacuum your carpet.

Carpet Cleaning Company Visit: How to Maintain your Carpet After the Service

You made a smart decision to let professional carpet cleaners clean your carpets for you. If you haven’t made up your mind yet, this will give you reasons to let professional cleaners service your carpet. Carpet cleaning is a really daunting task, but with their help, the load is lighter.

Prolong Carpet life

How to Maintain Your Carpet After a Carpet Cleaning Service

After each carpet cleaning appointment, the cleaner will give you tips on how to maintain your carpets pending the next cleaning appointment. If they don’t, well you have come to the right place. Carpets don’t always stay clean especially when they’re in use, that’s why constant attention is needed to maintain its appearance. There are things you should do and others you should avoid between appointments. They include:

1. Vacuum Regularly

This seems like the obvious chore, doesn’t it? But it’s sad to say that a lot of people are comfortable not vacuuming their carpets. Vacuuming regularly at least once a day will not just keep your carpet clean and pretty, it will extend the life of your carpet. This simple yet seemingly boring task removes loose dirt from your carpets so they don’t go deep into the fibers of your carpet and turn it gray. Wear and tear will also be reduced to a smaller rate.

2. Attend to Stains Quickly

As soon as they occur you will want to blot them out immediately. Special emphasis on the blot. That’s right, blot, don’t Scrub. Scrubbing makes the stain worse by spreading it and pushing it deeper into the fabrics if your carpet. Instead, blot the stains out carefully. It may look like you have to blot quickly so the stain doesn’t fall deep into the fibers, but at this point, rushing over it may yield unpleasant results. The key is to be as efficient at it as possible. When blotting use clean water and towels. You may have to teach your kids how to do this in your absence. We know kids love to play and experiment a lot.

3. Attend to Spills Immediately

It’s probably second nature to you to mop spills as with floors, but with carpets, you have to try a different approach. Mopping is kind of like rubbing and spreading the spill to the surrounding fabrics. Blot the spill instead like you would do stains. You have to do this quickly. A slight hesitation on your part may give rise to a bad smell. When your carpet starts giving off these smells, you’ll be embarrassed to invite anyone or host a guest in your home.
