Carpet Cleaning 101: Easy Tips And Tricks

You must clean your carpets every now and then. However, trying to do this on your own can be difficult, so it is a good idea to hire professional help. How can you be sure of what to ask and what to look for? Keep reading to find out more about carpet cleaning and how to find a reliable professional.

TIP! Even if furniture moving is offered free by the company, move any valuable yourself before they get there. If the company is insured, you might be paying for expensive damages out of your own pocket.

During vacuuming, divide the floor into sections to make vacuuming easier. This will let you see where you have vacuumed so you don’t waste time. For example, a square room can be divided into four equal quadrants.

TIP! Be certain to wash new carpets when you bring them home. Some carpets possess chemicals to help preserve their quality.

Try not to use too much heat as your carpets are cleaned. Your carpet can suffer from severe damage, even more so if it is colorful or fragile. This is especially crucial when trying to get a tough stain out.

TIP! Ask your cleaning company for advice or recommendations for your keeping up your carpet after their cleaning is complete. For example, they may advise you about types of stain removers available to you, the right amount of drying time for carpets and/or the most desirable frequency of vacuuming.

Be wary of a carpet cleaning company who contacts you by phone or advertises unbelievable ‘per room’ specials. Cleaning advertised at a set price per room usually have room size limits on the price. Use a company that charges by the square foot for the best deal.

TIP! Make sure that the company you choose for cleaning your carpets offers a guarantee. If the business does not offer a warranty, look for another company.

Make sure to wash the new carpets that you purchase the moment they enter your home. When carpets are displayed, they have chemicals that make them look appealing in the store. Limit your family’s exposure to such chemicals by giving carpets a good cleaning once they are brought into your home.

TIP! For times in between carpet cleaning services, make sure you have a stain remover handy. This solution is important to apply to a stain to get it out immediately.

You need to be aware of what the warranty is on your carpet, prior to getting any stain removal services done on your carpet. Your carpet may already be treated and if used with another product, it will void the carpet’s warranty. This can result in a big expense at some point, and the chemicals used in the two treatments may not be compatible.

TIP! There are a number of different kinds of carpet cleaning companies and many methods for cleaning carpets. For instance, many companies will clean with absorbent pads.

White vinegar provides a quick way to clean a carpet stain. However, hiring a professional is usually the wisest choice. Before a company uses it, try out a little vinegar on a small portion of your rug yourself so that you can ensure it’s safe to use.

TIP! When finding a carpet cleaning service, ask what extra services are included in the price. Do not let them haggle you into paying for many different services.

You need to try a trial and error method to find the company that suits your needs. Some products used on a carpet are made for the specific weave or fabric. Know the types that works best on your carpets. When you find something that works, continue buying it time and time again.

TIP! Hiring a professional cleaner to get rid of the smell in your carpets isn’t always necessary (although it is very effective). Sprinkle a little baking soda on it while no one is around.

Use vinegar and warm water to shampoo your carpet. That is cheaper than professional cleaning products, so you are going to get positive results. Mix some vinegar into some lukewarm water, pour this liquid over stains, and use a sponge to scrub. Use warm water to rinse the fibers and use a fan to dry the carpeting.

TIP! Carpet cleaning services often hold specials during summer months. Contact several to check which discounts are available during that time.

Carpet Cleaner

TIP! Do not choose a particular carpet cleaning company just because they claim to use the newest technology. Although this is nice, it is more important to have a knowledgeable person operating the equipment.

Never hire a carpet cleaner who is not certified in full by the IICRC. The ICRC is a worldwide certification body, and having the certificate is probably a sign of basic competence. You definitely need a certified IICRC carpet cleaner if there’s a warranty attached to your carpet. If your carpet cleaner is not certified, your carpet manufacturer may void your warranty.

TIP! Don’t hire a company that cleans carpet based on just their advertising. Check with neighbors and friends concerning services that they have used previously.

Baking soda is an inexpensive, natural carpet deodorizer. Most carpet deodorizers contain baking soda with fragrance. Use baking soda as a less expensive way to clean. You can also put a few oils into the mixture to give it a nice aroma prior to laying it out on wax paper.

TIP! Contact the company in advance to find out exactly what they are charging for and what comes with the service. Often, you will find that a cleaning company is willing to move your furniture for no additional cost.

If you have an animal in your home your carpet will surely need more attention than it would otherwise. Keeping your animals away from your carpet can be one of the best thing you can do for it outside of cleaning. A carpet needs to be vacuumed a couple times a week, and carpet cleaning supplies are essential to keep on hand.

TIP! If you want a list of local carpet cleaning businesses, look for reviews from customers. Once you get that list, call them to get phone quotes.

Carpet Cleaning

TIP! Be careful of tactics, such as bait-and-switch, utilized by some cleaning companies. For example, they may offer an excellent price but then nickel and dime you to death with additional charges and fees in the process of getting your carpet clean.

Remove all houseplants from any are that is going to be cleaned by the carpet cleaners. The chemicals used in carpet cleaning may harm your plants, so it is better to be safe than sorry. It is unlikely a carpet cleaning company will pay for any plants they damage, so being cautious is warranted.

TIP! You can find out great reviews by searching online. You will get the best information this way.

Blot out liquid spills immediately when you notice the hazard. Dry towels work well in soaking up the majority of the spilled liquid. If the liquid penetrates into your carpet, it will end up being much harder to clean. If the stain sinks into the fibers, you might have to pay for a steam cleaner.

TIP! Do not let a company treat your carpets without first verifying their reviews and credentials. While most professionals will seem nice and genuine, you need to make sure.

After reading this article, you have more tips and tricks to help you with pro carpet cleaning companies. These tips will help you find a reliable cleaner for your carpets. You should now have the knowledge that it takes to get your carpets cleaned for a fair price.

Advice For Getting Your Carpet Looking Great

Are your carpets dirty? There are many things you can do to help your flooring look better. Regardless of why your carpet is not looking good, a cleaning company can assist you. Keep reading to educate yourself about the business of carpet cleaning and to learn why and how you should pick one to do the job.

TIP! Always compare several carpet cleaning companies prior to picking one. Do proper research and read reviews.

Carpet Cleaning

TIP! Most carpets can handle professional cleaners. It is best to test a small hidden section of your carpet 24 hours before getting the entire floor cleaned.

You might believe that carpet cleaning companies will only clean your carpets, but they usually offer other services as well. They can also clean furniture, so look into this if it is a service that you need. Perhaps you can even locate a good deal for carpet cleaning services.

TIP! Before agreeing to a stain treatment from a professional carpet cleaning company, check the warranty on your carpets. Sometimes, application of a new stain treatment can void a warranty you might have.

Check for customer reviews for any carpet cleaning company you consider hiring. Look for reviews and recommendations that indicate whether the company is able to meet your needs and provide the best services. Customer reviews will be honest and frank, helping you to choose wisely.

TIP! Use white vinegar on a carpet stain for a quick cleaning solution. Even though the vinegar usually does an adequate job, to make sure you don’t ruin your carpeting, you should hire a professional to do the job properly.

Not all types of carpet are suited to heavy duty cleaning with industrial strength machines and chemicals. You should test a hidden area before receiving carpet treatment. Wool and silk rugs will likely be damaged by most cleaning materials. If you don’t know how your carpet should be cleaned, ask a professional for help.

TIP! Use a few different cleaning products before you choose the best one for you. A number of options are available from which you can choose, but each is meant for particular carpet types.

Remember that cleaning your carpet with chemical products exposes your entire family to substances that are potentially harmful. Read any cleaning product labels and consider “green” solutions like baking soda, salt or rinsing the carpet.

TIP! You need to read the directions on carpet solutions before attempting to clean. You need to know what you should do if you come in contact with the cleaning chemicals, what the ventilation requirements are and what materials you can safely clean.

Only hire carpet cleaners who have an actual, physical address in a building you can visit. You’re going to need a real address where any issues can be resolved, if you should have a problem with the work the cleaner does. You will probably want to look to another company if their listed business address is a P.O. Box.

TIP! Talk to any company prior to hiring them what particular procedures they have. You want to look for a company that vacuums thoroughly before starting the deep clean.

Ask your carpet cleaning professional for recommendations about caring for your carpets after the cleaning is done. They can give you guidance regarding how long the carpets need to dry, how often you should vacuum, and what you can do to lift future stains from the carpet. Do what your carpet cleaner recommends to keep your carpet looking clean and fresh.

TIP! It is not uncommon for carpet cleaners to try and add on products and services with each transaction. They reel you in with rock-bottom prices, then try to tack on features and services that you might think would already be included.

You should read labels carefully before using chemicals on your carpet. The directions may indicate what the product can be used on and under what circumstances it should be applied. These things need to be known prior to using this kind of product.

TIP! Be sure to remove all of your houseplants from any area of your home that is scheduled for carpet cleaning. Some of the chemicals effective for carpet cleaning are detrimental to plant life.

Shampoo carpers with vinegar and warm water. You don’t need to use any products before they come to your house. The professional should mix an equal amount of vinegar and warm water together. Then, they should pour the mixture over your carpet, scrubbing it with a sponge. Vacuum with a shop vac, rinse the area, vacuum again and let the carpet dry using a fan.

TIP! Red wine stains are difficult to get out of carpet. You can minimize damages by blotting the stain right away.

Red Wine

TIP! Vacuum opposite of the grain of the carpet for deeper cleaning. A professional can clean your carpeting better than you can.

Red wine that gets spilled on a carpet may leave behind a bad stain. If the stain is treated quickly, damage will be minimized. While waiting for a professional company to come, you can pre-treat the red wine with white wine. This can be done using cold water and a clean wash cloth. Cover it with some plain salt for about 10 minutes, then vacuum it up quickly.

TIP! Do not rub areas plagued by spills or dirt stains. This can cause the stain to look worse and fall deeper into the carpet.

Make sure the carpet cleaning service has a place to park. This may seem trivial, but it is actually important. Professional carpet cleaners use bulky, heavy cleaning equipment. At least give them the courtesy of a nearby parking space.

TIP! Instead of trying to get a firm estimate on the telephone, have the carpet cleaning professional come to your house and provide an estimate. This will allow them to be able to go over each room on their own so their estimate is more accurate.

You want to know the services that you get when you purchase a package from a carpet cleaning business. Some companies might try to upsell you or charge extra for services you thought were included. Avoid this trick. Talk to the company up front to get your costs immediately.

TIP! When shopping for a cleaning company, don’t just hire the cheapest one. Consider their service quality and reliability.

When you use a professional carpet cleaner, take note of the particular solvents and chemicals they use. Sometimes, they may not follow a green lifestyle, and may not be suitable for you. By doing you part, and encouraging others to do this as well, you can make a big difference for the planet.

TIP! You should keep it in the back of your mind if you are offered a warranty by a carpet cleaning company. For example, a spot cleaner or anti-static treatment can void your warranty; therefore, it is important to call the company before applying anything to your carpets.

Ask your loved ones if they are able to recommend any good carpet cleaners for you. Anyone with carpets in their home has likely needed them cleaned at some point. There’s a good chance that another person you know has been though this before. You are sure to be able to get a great recommendation. Also, a bad experience can help you as well; you will make sure not to hire that person.

TIP! Ask as many questions as needed. Ask the cleaners what methods and techniques they plan to use.

As you now know, a professional carpet cleaner can assist you in helping your carpet look good as new. The tips that you have gone over in this article are going to help you if you need to get a carpet cleaned. Cleaner carpets are just moments away!

TIP! Ask the company if they are willing to offer you a guarantee on their cleaning services. A crew that does not properly clean your carpet needs to do it again.

How To Choose A Quality Carpet Cleaning Machine

Anyone who has carpeting knows just how filthy it can become. When you have this problem, you will probably look for someone to clean the carpets. However, what do you need to take into account? Read this article and learn more about carpet cleaning.

TIP! Be sure and compare several cleaning services to each other prior to selecting one. Look for reviews from customers and do some research.

It is best to vacuum your carpet in sections. To help you get the job done efficiently vacuum a section at a time. Moving all of the furniture out of the room you are having professionally cleaned can be very helpful.

TIP! Check customer reviews and ratings for a prospective cleaning company. A lot of companies that have stood the test of time avoid giving you service the way you expect.

Before cleaning, make sure that the carpet is vacuumed. The vacuum that is used should be a good quality one. You will only cause the dirt to go deeper in the carpet if you apply a cleaning product over it. When needed, allow the stain to dry prior to vacuuming.

TIP! Some carpets cannot be cleaned with harsh chemicals or carpet cleaning machines. Therefore, a carpet-cleaning company should test a small portion of your carpet a full 24 hours prior to cleaning the entire carpet.

Carpet Cleaning

TIP! Just because a company is well-known doesn’t meant the quality of their work is better than their competitors. Look to see that any company you use has the right certifications.

Carpet cleaning companies also usually offer other types of services. Most companies offer an upholstery cleaning service for the furniture in your home. There are quality deals out there for carpet cleaning services.

TIP! Before a carpet-cleaning company uses industrial carpet cleaners, you should ensure they are aware of how to actually use it properly. The cleaner may have certain instructions that claim the best material to use it on, the requirements for ventilation, and what a person should do in case a chemical gets on their skin.

You should ask your carpet cleaner to test the chemical products they use on a sample or on a small area of your carpet. Don’t skip this step as some solutions cause permanent staining. Doing this sort of test is quick, and can save lots of hassle and expense.

TIP! When cleaning your carpets, don’t waste money on a deodorizer when baking soda works just as well. The majority of carpet deodorizers use this as their main ingredient.

Some carpets do not respond well to chemicals. You need a cleaning service that is going to use the right products. You don’t want any of your rugs being damaged. A professional can answer any carpet cleaning questions you may have.

TIP! Many companies encourage their representatives to upsell you. The initial price is usually so low because ordinary places that should be included are not but can be added on for an additional cost.

Even if your cleaning service says they will remove all the furniture for you, be sure and handle the delicate objects yourself. It’s better to be safe than sorry.

TIP! Remove houseplants from the areas that will be cleaned by the carpet cleaner. Carpet cleaning chemicals can kill plants.

A carpet cleaning company’s competency is not determined just by what brand shampoo or equipment they use. You need to find out whether or not the cleaner you hire has a certification and a good reputation. Ask them about certifications and contact your local better business bureau to find out if any complaints have been filed against this cleaner.

TIP! Check out the solvents and chemicals your carpet cleaner is planning to use in your home. Some companies are more environmentally friendly than others, and with a little research, you can find a greener option.

Ask the carpet cleaning professionals if they have any tips for carpet care once they have finished their cleaning. They may let you know when to vacuum and what the best stain remover is. You can now keep your carpets great-looking for much longer.

TIP! Do some research on the carpet cleaning firm that will perform a service in your home. Find out if they do a background check on their workers.

If someone wants to be a professional carpet cleaner, they need to have certification from the IICRC. This certification is globally recognized as the gold standard for carpet cleaners. This is imperative if your carpet is still under warranty. If they lack certification, your warranty may be voided.

TIP! Sometimes it is impossible to get out stains all by yourself. This causes a friction and cleans deeper.

Take the time to vacuum each part of the house. You can remove more dirt the more you spend time in each area. This can spare your carpet needless stains and give it longer life. The extra time you spend will give you good future results.

TIP! The summer months are commonly the time that carpet cleaning companies offer great discounts. Talk to some to see what they offer.

Baking Soda

TIP! Your carpet-cleaning company should never rub a stain because this can cause the stain to spread even deeper into the carpet. Instead, gently blot the area with vinegar and water, or with a bit of salt and warm water.

Baking soda is an affordable way to mask bad odors and keep your carpet fresh. Most carpet deodorizers contain baking soda with fragrance. Economize by simply utilizing baking soda. If you want a fragrance, simply mix some essential oils to the baking soda prior to applying to to your carpet.

TIP! Try using a professional carpet cleaner for your place of business. Many people already use professional cleaners in their homes, but they often overlook the benefits of using one in the office.

If you have a pet, you will probably be cleaning more often. It would be wise to get a carpet that is heavy duty and resists wear and tear. You should vacuum your carpet twice a week and always keep some carpet cleaning products at home.

TIP! If your carpet cleaning company offers a warranty on their work, keep that in mind going forward. This could also be important later.

Make sure the carpet cleaning service has a place to park. It can be a big deal because of their equipment. Carpet cleaning equipment is quite heavy, so it’s important that the cleaners have easy access.

TIP! Before a company vacuums your carpet, they should steam clean first. This lifts up thick grime and surface dirt that can interfere with professional cleaning.

Ask up front about the services that are offered by your carpet cleaning company. A lot of carpet cleaning businesses will low-ball you, then try to talk you into buying additional features that you might have assumed were included. You don’t want to go through this. Avoid this by confronting them as to what’s included in their price so that you aren’t surprised with a large bill.

TIP! Waxy, greasy stains are almost impossible to eliminate from most surfaces. Thankfully, corn starch is an excellent way to eliminate grease.

As the start of this article discussed, you already know how dirty carpets can get if you have them inside of your home. Therefore, it is important to know how to choose a good carpet cleaning company. The above article should give you a good idea of what to expect. Follow the advice presented here to find an excellent professional carpet cleaner.

TIP! Although hiring a company who provides a full guarantee of their services is excellent, you should find out the length of time this applies. A guarantee that lasts a week or two is not sufficient.

How to Remove Stubborn Substances [Pt 2]

Last week we talked about removing lipstick, shoe polish, and gum from soft surfaces. Today, we continue in our journey in carpet cleaning by talking about even more annoying things that get stuck in carpets and furniture.

Nail Polish:

  • As soon as the spill occurs, grab a cloth or paper towel and blot the stain, do not rub. Rubbing is likely to just push the nail polish into the fibers of the carpet or upholstery. Work from the outside in to prevent spreading the stain. Remove as much as you can without cleaning products before continuing.
  • Be aware of how specific cleaning products will affect your carpet. Some cleaners can cause discoloration or texture change. Test products on areas unseen before testing it on the nail polish stain.
  • Try non-acetone nail polish remover. Avoid acetone based removers since the chemical can damage the carpet or upholstery. With dark carpets and fibers, try rubbing alcohol or hair spray. Apply to a rag and blot. Carpet cleaners and Windex are safe options as well if other methods do not work.
  • If there is a strong smell of nail polish, remover, or cleaner, using a mix of dish washing detergent and warm water can prove affective. Rinse with clean water and dab dry.
  • If none of these work, contact us at Accents In Cleaning.

Ice Cream:

I scream, you scream, we all scream when ice cream spills in our home.

  • The faster the spill can be cleaned, the better. Melting is the enemy. Remove the frozen portions without pressing the ice cream into the fibers. Use a clean towel and roll it in a reverse motion, moving forward into the spill to pull the substance out of the carpet.
  • Combine dish soap and water and spray/apply to the spill, dab at it with a clean towel. Repeat as needed. Rinse with water.

Paint:

  • Remove as much paint as possible using a white absorbent cloth, as quickly as possible. Blot the area. If possible, use a wet/dry vacuum as this should extract a lot of the paint without rubbing it into the carpet.
  • Nail polish remover can remove nearly anything. Avoid acetone-based removers for colored carpets.
  • Rinse well and use a towel or wet/dry vac.
  • If stains persist, repeat the above methods or call a professional cleaning company.

With any spill, time is key. The sooner something can be removed, the less likely it is to stain and ruin furniture or carpets. Keeping a wet/dry vacuum can be helpful, but so is knowing of a good carpet cleaning company. We are more than happy to give you these tips so you can save your money for your full home or room cleaning instead of renting carpet cleaning machines from the grocery store at insane prices. Nail polish remover, hair spray, dish detergent, and wet-dry vas are amazingly useful to keep around and we highly recommend it. For all of your deep cleaning needs, contact us to keep your home surfaces looking amazing, we guarantee your satisfaction.

How to Remove Stubborn Substances from Surfaces [Pt 1]

Accidents happen and that shouldn’t mean your furniture and floors are ruined. Today we’ll discuss some tips for removing stubborn things like gum, lipstick, and shoe polish from carpets, upholstery, and more.

Gum:

Sometimes kids put gum on furniture. Sometimes adults accidentally lose control of their mouth and gum falls out. Sometimes gum can fall out of a trash can and get pressed into furniture or flooring. Next time gum shows up somewhere it doesn’t belong, try these methods.

  1. Ensure the gum is dried and hardened by using a can of compressed air or ice or an ice pack (be sure to keep moisture from ice away from the gum). Take a dull scraper to scrape up and lift off the gum. This can work on carpets as well, just be extra careful to avoid damage to the carpet fibers. Vacuum the area and wash with warm soapy water.
  2. Apply extra strength duct tape to the gum and quickly lift the tape, repeat until the gum is removed.
  3. Using a microfiber cloth, apply a product like Goo-Gone. Use circular motions and pressure to loosen the gum.

Lipstick:

Lipstick from a napkin, a glass tipping onto the carpet, or simply falling asleep on your sofa before removing your makeup can leave embarrassing red marks. Follow these tips to restore your carpet or furniture to its pre-kissed glory.

  1. If the lipstick has not dried, apply toothpaste to the area to help remove the stain.
  2. If the lipstick has dried, use a plastic knife or a scraper to remove as much as possible.
  3. Soak a cloth in ammonia and gently blot at the stain. Remove ammonia from the surface with a clean cloth which has been soaked in water.
  4. Spray hairspray onto the stain, let sit for roughly 5 minutes, and wipe down the area with a dry, clean cloth.

Unfortunately, lipstick is a very stubborn thing to remove, but Accents in Cleaning can help you remove any and all stains.

Shoe Polish:

Shoe polish can make work boots and dress shoes look amazing. Whether you have a housemate who is in the military or someone who just likes polished shoes, somewhere in your house is bound to end up with a little spilled shoe polish.

  1. Scrape away as much as possible (without damaging the carpet or upholstery) with a scraper or knife.
  2. Apply dry-cleaning fluid in a blotting fashion to the stain. Followed by a mixture of ammonia and dish soap applied with a clean paper towel (keeping the clean side on the stain at all times to reduce spreading). Rinse with cool water and blot with a clean, dry towel until dry.
  3. Use acetone nail polish remover. That stuff will remove just about anything!
  4. Mix a non-bleach laundry detergent with cold water and apply directly to the carpet and scrum.
  5. Combine water and ammonia, and scrub the carpet with a clean rag. Rinse with warm water and blot or vacuum dry.

If none of these methods work or you don’t want to clean the stains yourself, call us at Accents in Cleaning and we’ll get your floors and furniture looking good as new! Our trained professionals will leave you 100% satisfied, guaranteed! Check in next week for more stain removal tips.

Wearing Shoes Inside May Ruin Your Carpets

We all have those friends who insist that all guests remove their shoes upon entering their home. This is often associated with various Asian cultures but it’s a good practice for anyone with carpet—and honestly anyone else that cares about their floors.

Many people think that using the outdoor mat to wipe shoes before entering the home is enough. Some people take their shoes off when they first come in while others tend to leave their shoes on until time for bed. Wiping shoes on a mat outside poses a few problems.

  1. The mat is outside. Where dirt is. Mats right in the doorway have similar problems (high traffic, close proximity to the outdoors). Also, dirt will collect and eventually not be useful for removing anything off of your work boots and running shoes.
  2. Mats aren’t perfect. There isn’t really a way for floor mats to completely remove the dirt from the bottom of your shoes; especially if it’s just a quick wipe or it’s been raining out. If you wipe your shoes on your mat and then rinse them under running water you would find more dirt than you ever anticipated.
  3. Wiping shoes only removed dirt from the bottom of the shoes. If you decide to continue to assume mats clean shoes you’re ignoring the rest of the foot. Depending on the environments traveling, shoes can be filthy all over. That dirt can fall off and into carpets where foot traffic will basically grind it into the fibers.

If carpets are dingy and everyone in the hold walks around barefoot (with clean feet or socks) there are other ways walking and feet can damage carpet. Some slippers or house shoes can rub material into the carpet (colored soles, for example can begin to wear and the evidence is in the carpets). As with shoes, slippers can grind existing dirt into your floors from walking out to get the paper in your slippers or just from the dirt around the home.

Furniture can cause damage to carpets as well. Places where furniture is regularly moved can cause physical damage from long times of rest, rapid movement, or basic use (like dining chairs). Carpet fibers when new are round and have a certain level of shine or glossiness. Anything can cause friction and slowly alter that texture quality, making carpets look duller and darker (and therefore much dirtier). Carpet cleaning can help prevent this but the damage can be hard to reverse, if not impossible depending on severity. Some treatments can be applied to carpets to reduce the risk of this damage, but being aware of movements can do just as much. Avoid moving furniture haphazardly; do not just push your sofa across the floor and try to avoid small movements regularly. The less something moves around and is abrasive to carpet, the better the flooring will look.

Some of you may be thinking “how can I live in my house comfortably and keep my carpets looking nice?” It’s tricky, but you will have to accept some levels of dirt, grime, and wear. Regular professional cleaning can help restore the luster and cleanliness of your home but simple measures like shoe removal at the door (preferably placed on hard floors or mats) and careful furniture moving can help keep your home looking as clean as possible.

Call Accents In Cleaning today to schedule a visit to renew your carpets and push you to being a cleaner, smarter person. The next time you visit a friend or family member who requests everyone remove their shoes remember that they may just be trying to keep their carpet from becoming damages and it’s probably nothing against your shoes specifically.

Don’t Fall Victim of the Bait-and-Switch or Scams!

So many companies advertise amazing deals like $100 for an entire home to be cleaned (regardless of how many rooms). Any deal that sounds “too good to be true,” probably is. Low prices and amazing deals are easy to find but it can be a little harder to decide if it’s legitimate.

Often times, these amazing deals end up as scams. Cleaners show up in unmarked vans, shoddy equipment, and can give off a sleazy vibe. They show up incredibly late in hopes that you’ll do whatever they say just to get rid of them and have your house cleaned. Never fall for this. Discuss over the phone what happens if the cleaners are late (like possible discounts) before booking. Chances are that qualified companies will be able to guarantee prompt service.

If or when these scamming companies show up, they may inform you that there is fine print or some exclusions to the deal you saw. This usually includes things like price quoted only for high traffic areas, not whole rooms. It can also include inferior cleaning processes. Some of these scam companies may claim that the quoted price does not include certain cleaners or even any soap at all. This is a huge warning sign because cleaning without any form of cleaning agent is usually completely useless. Hard floors can be cleaned with steam alone, but for maximum effectiveness, all floors benefit from cleaning agents.

These bait-and-switch companies will try to convince you to pay extra for cleaners, certain machines being used, tips, time for labor, and more. The more they try to add to the original quote, the faster you should turn them away. When on the phone receiving a quote, always ask about which services are included and which would cost extra. With this information it is in your best interest to shop around! This includes looking for online reviews, other ads, phone book listings, and price comparisons.

If you ever feel as if a cleaning company is trying to victimize you, end the transaction as soon as possible. Never pay upfront, and when using a new company it could be wise for safety issues to have more than one person in the home in case the scammers get violent. If someone is dishonest enough to scam innocent people, who knows what else they are capable of, including intimidation tactics and physical violence. Once you are convinced a company is the real deal, payment can be handled and repeat business can be discussed.

Like any scammers, questions can deter even the most practiced con artists. Always ask about certification, references or reviews, chemicals and tools used, insurance, business licenses, and how long the company has been in business. These questions and more are useful for any transaction with a business which will be entering your home. If they cannot provide you with a piece of information (especially about the cleaning and drying process), chances are they are incompetent or scammers.

Accents in Cleaning will never try to screw you over by overcharging or not using vital instruments and chemicals to perform our duties. We are honest, upfront, and professional on every level. Call us today to avoid the risk of scams and bait-and-switch tactics. Contact us today for a quote!

Different Kinds of Carpet Cleaning

Bonnet: Often used by companies or clients concerned with water-conservation, this method resembles a floor buffer seen used in grocery stores and schools late at night. The carpets are misted with a mixture of club soda and cleaning solutions and the “bonnet” scrubs the carpet with a rotating motion with an absorbent spinning pad to remove dirt and grime. The bonnet needs regular cleaning or replacing as well as regular lubrication with cleaning solution to ensure a decent clean. This method does not easily allow for sanitation of carpets, so often another cleaning method needs to be implemented or an antimicrobial agent is applied after the cleaning process.

Dry Foam: Using a pressure tank containing a solution of 90% air and 10% liquid the dry foam method is considered low moisture. After application and allowing the moisture content to go down, a vacuum is used to extract the cleaner. This can leave residue on the carpets, leading to this method having low effectiveness. The carpet may smell cleaner and the visual quality may improve slightly, but it is often not a true clean.

Dry Compound: With this method, an “absorbent mixture” is spread across the carpets and a machine scrubs the mixture into the carpet and dirt is meant to absorb into the mixture. Once dry, a vacuum is used to remove the material. Due to a lack of rinsing, this method is about as useful as dry foam.

Hot Water Extraction (Steam): This is generally considered the most effective cleaning method. Hot water (not steam) is used with cleaning solutions accompanied with high pressure to force the water and cleaning product into the carpet and that liquid is sucked back up. There are two methods for hot water extraction cleaning: portable and truck mounted. The truck method is often preferred because the water can get hotter (meaning more effective cleaning and sanitation) and be released at a higher pressure (to break up dirt, pollen, and bacteria), and higher levels of suction are capable. This method can lengthen the life of your carpet because the rinsing abilities removes residue, preventing added wear-and-tear of your carpets. Carpets are left cleaner, more sanitary, and restored to a like-new luster.

The downside of hot water extraction cleaning methods is the dampness that resides. Floors need to be fully dried to prevent mildew and mold. The cleaning is very effective, but in areas of high humidity or low air circulation, drying can take long enough to cause problems. Many companies, like Accents in Cleaning, offer better drying processes to decrease the chances of mold and mildew.

Hot water extraction is often called “steam cleaning” because of the use of hot water. Actual steam cleaning is usually used for hard surfaces. Steam can damage most artificial carpet fibers or shrink natural fibers such as wool or cotton, hot water extraction being referred to as “steam cleaning,” is actually more like a nickname than the actual title. Make sure you make sure your carpet cleaners are not trying to use steam on your carpets and upholstery.

The Accents In Cleaning Process!

Carpet:Carpet cleaning before and after carpet

Before beginning, the Accents in Cleaning employee will walk through the home with the client to discuss areas in need of attention. The first cleaning step is a deep vacuum with our high quality machines. These vacuums will pick up debris most commercial machines will not. This is not to say you should not vacuum before our visit since regular vacuuming is good for the life of the carpet and your personal health. Next, stains and spots are targeted as needed with the correct products and methods. In the rare case that the spot is not removed or improved our cleaners will inform the client. We then use a pre-spray before bringing in our truck mounted cleaning machines using a one wet, two dry processes for a high quality clean and low drying time. We offer a speed drying system, and while it completes our professionals will clean up their gear and discuss with you what was done, payment, and give you the option to schedule your next cleaning.

Upholstery:Upholstery Cleaning Service sofa cleaning

Our technicians begin cleaning by a pre-vacuum at which point we keep an eye out for any damage present to the furniture before our arrival. The furniture is pre-sprayed and a coarse hair brush is used against the upholstery to loosen up any grime to ease the cleaning process. Our truck mounted system ensures high heat and a quality clean to remove deeply embedded soils. Upon completion of the cleaning the brush is used again to restore the original texture of thick fabrics and speed the drying. Much like with our carpet cleaning, we offer a speed-dry system.

Tile and Grout:tile grout cleaning before after tile grout cleaning

Before beginning, the area is inspected to know where would need the most attention and which products will best clean the area while maintaining the integrity of the tile and grout (since we offer cleaning for man-made and natural flooring). The floor is prepped with our tile cleaning solution. Grout lines are manually scrubbed to ensure the dirt and grime is removed. Using our special made tile tool to clean the corners effectively we ensure a full clean without damaging the tile or furnishing. Our high-impact spinner deeply cleans every pore and grout line to ensure the best clean possible. Before finishing, we ensure all moisture in the surrounding area is dried and we apply a high quality clear sealant before finishing with our rotary machine to restore the shine and luster of your tile. As with our other services, the floors are dried with our speed-driers.

Pet Stains:

Pet stains are hard to see with the naked eye, but we use blacklights and various technologies to find and mark these spots and use our in-house urine treatment product to remove the stain and oror. We ensure the even spread of the product and use a subsurface tool to completely remove the soil and product before using a deodorizing product and our standard truck-mounted cleaning system.

At Accents in Cleaning we understand the value of clean, well-kept floors and we hope you choose us for your annual, semi-annual, or random floor cleaning needs!
